An empirical study on readability and its effects on sociological research.
Sociology often has the anecdotal reputation of producing particularly complicated texts with little meaning behind them. To test this thesis, we analyzed German-language publications from German scientific journals over the last 20 years.
Our initial results show that in some disciplines the texts are indeed written in a way that is particularly difficult to understand.
